WINGBUG FOR CERTIFIED
Though not FAA certified as a primary source of flight instrumentation, the WingBug ADAHRS device and app are the perfect complement to certified aircraft. Whether providing instrument redundancy, flight recording, or the added safety of Angle of Attack and Side Slip situational awareness plus ADS-B In, WingBug greatly enhances a pilots flying experience and peace of mind. Here are a few reasons why:
PERSONAL AND PORTABLE: From a student pilot in day one of training, to a seasoned veteran aviator who flies multiple aircraft. For the pilot that rents aircraft for pleasure or business when travelling. For the pilot for hire that ferries aircraft from airport to airport. The WingBug goes with you. Take it with you just like you would your headset, E6B, logbook, or other equipment you find critical to safe and comfortable flying. You can now fly with the peace of mind of instrument redundancy and reliable accuracy you have never had before.
REDUNDANCY: The majority of moderate to low speed, and older aircraft only have one set of pilot side instruments. Some may have system redundancy, but most due to cost, space, and weight considerations do not. System redundancy is unheard of in older aircraft. Up until now, should a pilot lose flight instruments due to an electrical failure, vacuum pump failure, or hardware malfunction they either have no back up or rely upon GPS based apps which only give ground speed and relies on the placement of the tablet or smart phone in the cockpit. With WingBug you now have a stand-alone, fully encompassed ADAHRS Six Pack which operates the same as, but independently from, the aircraft’s primary systems. You can rely on the data to be as accurate as the primary system, and to be with you to get you safely on the ground.
IN FLIGHT BENEFITS: With the minimal size and weight of an iPad and the versatility it brings to the cockpit, pilots no longer have to forgo the information, situational awareness, and safety provided by a full set of flight instruments. If flying in aircraft that has a second seat but not a second set of instruments, now all positions can be aware of what the aircraft is doing while moving through the air. If you have ever thought it would be nice to have redundancy in those instruments, now you can.

WingBug for Experimental
The WingBug ADAHRS device and app are the perfect complement to all Homebuilt, Experimental, and Legacy Aircraft. Whether building new, upgrading old, or just in need of flight instrument redundancy, WingBug provides a great deal to pilots. Here are a few
PERSONAL AND PORTABLE: From a student pilot in day one of training, to a seasoned veteran aviator who flies multiple aircraft. For the pilot that rents aircraft for pleasure or business when travelling. For the pilot for hire that ferries aircraft from airport to airport, or the builder and flight tester desiring safer and more accurate test flights. The WingBug goes with you. Take it with you just like you would your headset, E6B, logbook, or other equipment you find critical to safe and comfortable flying. You can now fly with the peace of mind of instrument redundancy and reliable accuracy you have never had before.
TESTING: Up until now, pilots conducting initial flight testing on newly built aircraft had to make handwritten notes on testing parameters while making sure the aircraft would even fly, taking your attention away from safely flying the plane. With WingBug, you attach the device to the aircraft, turn it on, open the app, touch the record button and fly. Now all you have to do is touch the event marker and note the time when you enter a flight testing configuration. (We would recommend a sequenced pre-plan before you get airborne.) Once safely on the ground, just play back the flight. You can download raw data, watch the instruments and timeline, and/or use programs like CloudAhoy or Google Earth to help make your notes. This decreases the pilot’s in flight workload and makes testing safer, quicker, and more accurate. You can even have a permanent electronic record of the flights.
From Part 103 Ultra-light Aircraft to the oldest and largest of Legacy Aircraft, WingBug will provide accurate and reliable instrumentation never before considered or available for some. Whether due to the lack of available space, electrical systems, or concerns of weight restrictions, pilots have been deprived of this valuable information. Slow, fast, puller, pusher, amphibian, bush plane, or luxury cruiser, WingBug is appropriate for providing information needed for flight instrumentation, AOA and side slip situational awareness, ADS-B In data, and flight recording.
COST COMPARISONS IN DOLLARS, WEIGHT, AND SPACE*:
Average Cost of a standard analog flight instrument “six pack”: $3,764.00 for the hardware before installation parts and labor.
Average Weight of those instruments combined: Approximately 6 pounds before installation hardware
Average Console Space required for those instruments combined: Approximately 12 inches X 9 inches minimum (depending upon configuration)
Flight Instrument Operational Requirements: Dependent upon the aircraft design and instruments used the aircraft may need an electrical system, vacuum pump, installed pitot system, and other possible hardware.
Cost of a WingBug ADAHRS Device and App: $1,350.00 (plus S&H and tax). The full app is included. The WingBug is personal and portable, temporarily installed equipment. No additional parts or labor required.
The required Apple iPad is not included.
Weight of the WingBug equipment: WingBug device = 12 ounces; Apple Mini iPad = Less than 1 pound
Console space required: None. However the iPad (Mini = 5” x 5.3” x .24”) may be attached to the aircraft either in console or by a mounting device at the pilot’s discretion.
WingBug Operational Requirements: Charge both the WingBug and iPad prior to flight. As they are stand-alone units, no electrical system is required and no other equipment is needed.
IN FLIGHT BENEFITS:
Builders, owners, and pilots of non-certified aircraft enjoy the flexibility of customizing their aircraft to their needs. Now with the minimal size and weight of an iPad and the versatility it brings to the cockpit, pilots no longer have to forgo the information, situational awareness, and safety provided by a full set of flight instruments. If flying in aircraft that has a second seat but not a second set of instruments, now all positions can be aware of what the aircraft is doing while moving through the air. If you have ever thought it would be nice to have redundancy in those instruments, now you can.
Are you a pilot who debriefs your flights, whether alone or with your co-pilot/passengers. Now you have the ability to not only record real flight data, but play back, evaluate, and archive that data. Not only that but if you would like, it can be shared with other pilots to brag about your exploits or share lessons learned.
